Bolívar Sailing League.
The Bolívar Sailing League (Liga de Vela de Bolívar) was founded in 1999 with the purpose of promoting the sport of sailing in the department of Bolívar, especially in Cartagena de Indias. Thanks to the interest and support of several local clubs, the league has cultivated a passion for the sea among young people. The facilities of these clubs offer classes in various Olympic sailing categories. Cartagena de Indias, strategically located, provides access to different types of waters ideal for the practice of sailing, from calm waters to more challenging conditions, enriching the experience of sailors in training.

"We invite you to be part of the most exciting nautical event of the year. From April 12th to 20th, 2025, Cartagena will be the epicenter of sailing in the Caribbean, with a clinic and high-level competitions in the unparalleled setting of the Colombian Caribbean."
Our Categories
The LVB, at this moment we compete in the following categories:

Optimists
Known as the "Sailing School", it was designed especially for children. Measuring 236 cm in length, 112 cm in width and weighing 35 kilos, it has a sail area of 3.5 m². This boat offers great stability, ideal for introducing young people to the exciting world of sailing. Its robust and accessible design allows them to learn the basics of sailing in a safe and fun way, preparing future sailors for more challenging adventures on the water.
Sunfish
The Sunfish Class is one of the most popular and numerous in Colombia, known for its accessibility and versatility. This lightweight sailboat, with a simple and easy-to-handle design, is ideal for both beginners and experienced sailors. Its compact hull and distinctive sail allow for exceptional performance in various wind conditions. The Sunfish community in Colombia is vibrant and active, organizing numerous regattas and events that encourage participation and development of the sport at a national level.


ILCA (Laser)
This is one of the most popular and competitive sailing classes worldwide. This class is characterized by the use of one-design boats, known as "Laser", which ensure equality in competitions by being identical in design and construction.
Kitesurf Foil
The Kite Foil Formula class is a kiteboarding discipline that uses boards with hydrofoils (foils) and kites specifically for competitions. Foils allow you to fly over the water, reducing drag and increasing speed. The kites are designed to generate power efficiently. Races are held on marked courses, notable for their speed and the skill required to control the equipment in various conditions. It is an exciting and technical category that is constantly evolving.


i420
It is an international double-crew youth sailing category. At approximately 4.2 meters in length, this fiberglass hulled boat is agile and versatile. It is ideal for young people learning advanced sailing tactics and racing strategy. Equipped with a main sail and jib, the i420 promotes teamwork skills and competition in global youth racing.
Twin Tip Race
A type of sailing that combines the versatility of Twin Tip boards with the excitement of racing. Designed for agility and speed, these boards allow for quick and efficient maneuvers. Equipped with high-performance kites, competitions focus on tactical skills and racing strategies. It is a modern class that attracts sailors seeking adrenaline and performance in diverse wind and sea conditions.


Wing Foil
Emerging sailing discipline that combines the use of boards with hydrofoils and portable wings (wings). Practitioners use the wind to propel themselves over the water, achieving a sensation of flight. It requires balance and wing handling skills to control direction and speed. It is versatile and accessible, allowing sailing in different wind conditions and bodies of water. Popular for its simplicity and the unique experience it offers in direct contact with nature and the wind.
Mainsail
Exciting events that combine technical proficiency with the historic and modern splendor of Cartagena de Indias. In these competitions, yachts of different classes compete in real time adjusted by the IRC, which balances the performance of the vessels. The city, with its colonial and modern surroundings, provides a picturesque and challenging setting. The local waters, from the calm bays to the challenging breezes of the Caribbean Sea, add a crucial tactical element. This fusion of history and modernity creates a unique atmosphere that attracts both experienced sailors and enthusiastic spectators, turning each regatta into a vibrant and memorable event in the cultural heart of Colombia.
